Fired Up Woman of the Week: Amanda Terkel

Think of taking a vacation…think of relaxing…think of weekends with friends…and then imagine a Fox News Producer working for Bill “No Spin But Plenty of Shit” O’Reilly gets up in your face.  What would you do?

Well, Amanda Terkel of Think Progress knew what she’d do.  She would harness the power of the internet to make a movement out of it. And that’s why she’s AVPW’s Fired Up Woman of the Week.    Terkel hasn’t been the only victim of the ideologue’s army of  minions. But when O’Reilly’s thugs started following her about town, stalking and harassing her every step of the way, Terkel fought back by creating a social justice movement in the new web 2.0 style.

Now former sponsors of O’Reilly’s are disaffiliating like crazy.  The latest was UPS, who has decided that:

Thank you for sending an e-mail expressing concern about UPS advertising during the Bill O’Reilly show on FOX News. We do consider such comments as we review ad placement decisions which involve a variety of news, entertainment and sports programming. At this time, we have no plans to continue advertising during this show.

Terkel’s actions just go to show the spirit of taking horrendously sour grapes and making the sweet wine of victory out of them.  Cheers, Amanda!
